Systematic was contracted to remove existing emergency hog conveyor and replace with a new chain conveyor. The main challenge of the project was overall access and space surrounding the conveyor. This project required the new conveyor to be threaded through an exterior wall during the annual shutdown. This rebuild was completed with approximately 1.5 weeks with the main demolition occurring during plant operations.

Systematic was contracted to provide labour for the relocation of an existing 4-Bin Sheet Stacker and installation of a new Elite Automation 2-Bin Random Stacker. The project required demolition of transfer trays, walkways and structural, relocation of the sheet stacker to a new location, air receiver and piping reconfiguration, hydraulic unit/hosing relocation, walkway installation and Elite Automation Random Stacker installation.
Shutdown/Installation
Demolition:
- Remove existing HPU Unit and Air Receiver for relocation
- Remove existing air receiver and sheet stacker piping and dispose in bins
- Disconnect hydraulic hosing for relocation
- Disconnect exhaust ducting
- Lift exhaust ducting through roof and secure
- Cut out walkways at new sheet stacker location
- Decommission and remove strip trays
- Cut out air manifold sections on sheet stacker to fit in new location (roof truss interference)

Systematic was contracted to remove existing dryer and install a new MEC dryer. The removal and install required navigating a 62’long barrel drum through existing mill with minimal mill interruption. The path through mill consisted of a tight “S” turn, with approximately 8 inches of clearance. The project was completed while the surroundings dryers operated.

MEC Dryer #1 and #4 Replacement

Client: West Fraser Barwick
Location: Emo, On
Systematic was contracted to remove existing dryers and install two new MEC dryers. The removal and install required navigating a 62' long barrel drum through an existing mill with minimal mill interruption. The path through the mill consisted of a tight "S" turn, with approximately 6 inches of clearance. The project was completed while the surrounding dryers operated.
Role in Provisions of Works and Services:
- Planning of path navigation through existing mill
- Install temporary structural steel to support existing platform and bins above work area.
- This steel was engineered to ensure that loads were compensated for
- Crane used to lift dryer off of truck and place onto rollers in the door
- Tandem Lift (135,000 lbs)
- Tandem operations of crane and rollers assisted with telehandler
- Removal of dryer off pad and navigating through the mill
- Navigating through multiple tight maneuvers around structural steel
- Skating using rollers, forklift and telehandler
- Install new MEC dryer per the vendor's specifications
- Work with supplier to ensure proper alignment
- QAQC of installation
- Install new outlet ducting
- Grouting pads
- Sika 42
MEC Dryer #3 Replacement

Systematic was contracted to remove existing dryer and install a new MEC dryer. The removal and install required navigating a 62' long barrel drum through existing mill with minimal mill interruption. This was the final dryer to be replaced. Previously Systematic replaced 3/4 dryers (S23511, S23548).

Systematic was contracted to remove jack ladder take away conveyors from an elevated platform and reinstall newly designed conveyors. This project took place during the annual shutdown of 7 days. All work was constructed on an elevated platform with minimal headroom. The surrounding structure dictated the install methodology.

- Remove existing conveyors
- Install (2) jib cranes
- Chuting field modification and install
- Consult on design for install
Super Screen Upgrade
Year: 2022
Client: West Fraser Timber Co. LTD
Location: Grande Prairie
Completed all required modifications within a two day outage to allow for an upgrade of the fire supression of the main Super screen. Successfully replaced the legs and pannelling on the screen, as well as provided calibration and commissioning support.
